Purpose:

Provide overview of site Discuss path forward for NRC National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) review Discuss the timeline for restart Goal:

Gain understanding and NRC feedback on process for NRCs NEPA review

5 Licensing History 2

NextEra Energy Duane Arnold, LLC Duane Arnold commenced commercial operation in 1974 One BWR with thermal output of 1,912 MWt, output of 610 MWe Site is approximately 500 acres License renewal granted in December 2010, with the current operating license expiring in 2034 Ceased operations in 2020. Currently, idled and in decommissioning status On January 23, NextEra Energy Duane Arnold, LLC submitted the following documents Duane Arnold restart overview and regulatory path to reauthorization of power operations Request for exemption from 10 CFR 50.82(a)(2), officially notifying NRC of NextEra Energy Duane Arnold, LLCs intention to submit a series of licensing applications to support open communications and agency resource planning

NextEra Energy Duane Arnold, LLC All spent fuel transferred to Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation (ISFSI)

Spent fuel pool is filled without fuel Major systems status:

Most major plant systems drained and deenergized Training and administrative buildings removed Mechanical draft cooling towers removed Generator output transformer and in-scope transmission lines removed The main power block buildings remain intact

7 Planned Restart Activities 4

NextEra Energy Duane Arnold, LLC Plant to be restored to previous operating license condition at 2020 shutdown Planned plant modifications:

New cooling towers Restoration of in-scope transmission lines New office and warehouse buildings Sewage treatment system upgrade Dredging of intake Permit applications to support restart activities and resumption of power operations

Storm drain system discharges to a retention pond Well water for cooling and as a domestic water source Radwaste and control buildings HVAC systems remain energized Fire protection systems

12 Path Forward 9

NextEra Energy Duane Arnold, LLC Under NEPA, it is anticipated that NRC will prepare an Environmental Assessment (EA) for this restart NextEra Energy Duane Arnold, LLC will:

Coordinate with the NRC Environmental Project Manager regarding the need for an environmental review document and the subject areas that would be useful to address Submit an environmental review document (tentatively in October 2025) that focuses on restart activities useful for the NRCs NEPA review Support both virtual and on-site audits for the EA preparation Work with NRC to determine final steps

- Anticipated that a final EA and Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) will be issued within 12 months of acceptance of an environmental submittal
