OF JUNE 23, 2025, PARTIALLY CLOSED PRE-APPLICATION CRITICALITY SAFETY PUBLIC MEETING WITH WESTINGHOUSE COLUMBIA FUEL FABRICATION FACILITY On June 23, 2025, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff held a virtual partially closed public meeting with Westinghouse Columbia Fuel Fabrication Facility (CFFF).
Westinghouse CFFF staff had requested this meeting to discuss its criticality safety program for the planned low enriched uranium plus (LEU+) facility expansion at its currently licensed CFFF in Hopkins, South Carolina. The LEU+ facility expansion will be used to manufacture light water reactor fuel enriched up to 8 percent uranium-235. The first session of the meeting was open to the public while the second session was closed to the public for discussion of proprietary information. The meeting notice and agenda, dated June 3, 2025, is available in the NRCs Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) at Accession No. ML25155A314. Westinghouses presentations (slides) for the open (public) session (ML25174A216) and closed (non-public) session (ML25174A217, non-public) are also in ADAMS. The list of attendees and summaries of the open and closed sessions with corresponding slide presentations are enclosed.
