ACRS ACTION ON P:OOPOSED REGULA'IORY GUIDES AND AMENDMENTS 'ID

'IllE CODE OF FEDERAL REGULATIONS

Dear Mr. Gossick:

During its 215th meeting, March 9-10, 1978, the ACRS took the follow-ing action on proposed Regulatory Guides and Amendments to the Code of Federal Regulations:

1. Approved Regulatory Guide 1. 128, Revision 1, "Installation Design and Installation of Large Lead Storage Batteries for Nuclear Power Plants,"
2. Decided they did not wish to review an Amendment to 10 CFR 50, Section 50.34, concerning rriaintaining integrity of structures, systems, and components important to safety during construction at multi-unit sites, and an Amendment to 10 CFR 50, Section 50.71, to require that certain appli-cants for or holders of power reactor operating licenses periodically update their final safety analysis reports (FSAR's), and
3. Did not approve the latest version of the Amendment to 10 CFR 50, Section 50.44, "Standards for Combustible Gas Con-trol Systems in Light Water Cooled Power Reactors," which was sent to the ACRS subsequent to the November 3-5, 1977 Meeting. Approval of the previous version of 10 CFR 50, Section 50.44 was documented by a letter to you dated November 9, 1977.
