SUBJECT:
NEW YORK AGREEMENT STATE PROGRAM IMPROVEMENT PLAN APPROVAL
Dear Charles Burns and Kevin Wood:
On May 2, 2025, the New York Agreement State Program (New York) submitted an updated Program Improvement Plan (PIP) based on the results of the 2024 follow-up Integrated Materials Performance Evaluation Program (IMPEP) review and the Management Review Board Chairs decision to continue the period of heightened oversight. The PIP specifies planned actions to address performance issues identified during the 2024 follow-up IMPEP review, which is available in the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commissions (NRC's) Agencywide Documents Access and Management System Accession No. ML25017A150. The PIP is available in ML25161A119. The NRC has reviewed the information provided in the PIP, and determined that the PIP adequately addresses the performance issues identified during the 2024 follow-up IMPEP review. The PIP also contains estimated completion dates, where available, and specifies clear roles and responsibilities. Based on the staff review, the NRC approves the PIP.
The next monthly status call between the NRC and New York is scheduled to be conducted on July 25, 2025. Please submit any PIP status updates to Shawn Seeley at Shawn.Seeley@nrc.gov, at least five days prior to subsequent calls.
