By letter dated March 25, 2025 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession Number ML25119A146), Orano NCS GmbH (Orano) submitted an application to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) on April 29, 2025, for the approval of Oranos Safety Analysis Report (SAR), revision 4, renewing and incorporating changes to Certificate of Compliance No. 9388 to remove the housing of the valve protecting device from the design of the DN30 protective structural packaging (PSP), in addition to design changes to the 30B-X cylinder resulting from manufacturing of and tests with 30B-10 prototypes.
This communication informs you that the application appears to contain the necessary information to begin our review. We have established a schedule for the review of your SAR.
Based on our preliminary evaluation, we anticipate completing our formal review by mid-August 2025. Please note that this date could change depending on the findings of our review.
The NRC staff estimates that completing the review of your submittal will require approximately 525 staff hours and no contractor charges.
Note that this email will be placed in ADAMS as publicly available to document the acceptance of your submittal.
