SUBJECT:
QUALITY ASSURANCE PROGRAM APPROVAL FOR RADIOACTIVE MATERIAL PACKAGES NO. 0935, REVISION 14
Dear David Platt:
Enclosed is the Quality Assurance Program (QAP) Approval for Radioactive Material Packages No. 0935, Revision No.14, in response to your request for Approval of your QAP, dated May 14, 2025, (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System [ADAMS] Accession No. ML25139A344). This Approval satisfies the requirements of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) Section 71.37 and 71.101(c) for a QAP approved by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). The scope of Approval of the EnergySolutions QAP revision 14 only applies to quality activities performed under 10 CFR Part 71.
This letter does not approve the QAP for 10 CFR Part 72 activities. This letter does not approve the change in internal audit requirements from annually to 2 years for 10 CFR Part 72 activities listed in the revision table of the submitted QAP.
Termination of your materials license does not cause this Approval to be automatically terminated. If you wish to amend this Approval and have determined it reduces commitments, or terminate this Approval, please request it in writing.
This letter also serves as a reminder that if you are using or planning to use an NRC-approved package, you must be registered for use of that package with the NRC. Registration for use of NRC-approved packages should be made pursuant to 10 CFR 71.17(c)(3).
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.390, Public inspections, exemptions, requests for withholding, a copy of this letter will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR) or from the Publicly Available Records component of the NRCs ADAMS. ADAMS is accessible from the NRC website at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html. The PDR is open by appointment. To make an appointment to visit the PDR, please send an email to PDR.Resource@nrc.gov or call 1-800-397-4209 or 301-415-4737, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. eastern time (ET), Monday through Friday, except Federal holidays.
