Meeting Summary:
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff conducted the meeting in accordance with NRC Management Directive 3.5, Attendance at NRC Staff-Sponsored Meetings (ML21180A271). SMR (Holtec) provided an overview of its planned methodology for the fire probabilistic safety assessment (PSA) for the future SMR-300 application.
During the open portion of the meeting, SMR (Holtec) explained that it plans to provide a high-level overview of the planned fire PSA for the upcoming SMR-300 construction permit application submittal (ML25115A262). SMR (Holtec) discussed the planned asymmetrical dual-unit site layout at the existing Palisades site, which provides unique considerations for the fire PSA.
At the end of the open portion of the meeting, members of the public were invited to provide comments or ask the NRC staff questions pertaining to the scope of the meeting. Two members of the public provided comments that were outside the scope of this meeting. The only comment within the scope of the meeting was the one in which a member of the public expressed a concern that the majority of the information in this pre-application engagement was not publicly available.
