[External_Sender] Comments re: renewal of Point Beach Nuclear Reactor Licenses To members of the NRC, I urge you to deny the application for renewal of the Point Beach Nuclear reactors.
Point Beach Nuclear Reactor Unit 2 is one of the most embrittled reactors in the U.S, and thus at risk for cracking and the release of radioactivity. Additionally, the draft supplemental EIS does not take into consideration the most current climate projections for 2030-2055 and beyond.
I am concerned that that in the event of a power outage, the fuel rods could met and cause a core metldown, endangering drinking water for 40 million people.
Furthermore, the risk assessments are not properly adjusted to reflect the higher sensitivity of women, infants, children and teens.
Finally, with nuclear wastes remaining highly toxic for tens of thousands of years and no permanent safe and reliable permanent storage facilities in the U.S., how can we ensure that the toxic wastes will be safely isolated for future generations?
Therefore, I ask you to reject the applications for renewal of the Point Beach Nuclear Reactors.
