U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION STAFFS FEEDBACK ON THE OKLO WHITE PAPER LICENSING APPROACH FOR THE OKLO FUEL RECYCLING FACILITY
Dear Ross Moore:
By letter dated September 10, 2024 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML24254A332), Oklo Inc. (Oklo) submitted a white paper titled Licensing Approach for the Oklo Fuel Recycling Facility, for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staffs review. The white paper in Enclosure 1 to the letter (ML24254A333) summarized Oklos evaluation of the regulatory framework and potential pathways that support the licensing of its proposed fuel recycling facility. In Enclosure 3 to the letter (ML24254A335),
Oklo also provided a list of questions that it would like the NRC staff to address in its feedback.
The enclosure to this letter provides the NRC staffs feedback on the white paper for Oklo to consider as part of any future submittal that may address this topic. The enclosure is not publicly available because the subject white paper contains Oklo proprietary information and is being withheld from public disclosure.1 Note that the NRC staffs feedback in the enclosure to this letter does not constitute a final agency position and is not intended to be comprehensive.
Lack of feedback or observations regarding a certain aspect of the white paper should not be interpreted as the NRC staffs agreement with Oklos position.
