IMPRENDING PUBLICATION OF TECHNICAL LETTER REPORT (TLR-RES/DE/REB-2025-09) TECHNICAL ASSESSMENT OF THE APPLICATION OF DIGITAL TWIN AND PROGNOSTIC TOOLS FOR CONDITION MONITORING Enclosed for your information and use is a technical letter report (TLR) entitled Technical Assessment of the Application of Digital Twin and Prognostic Tools for Condition Monitoring (ADAMS Accession ML25135A029). This report was written as part of Task 1 Assessment of the Application of Data Analytics and Prognostic Tools for Condition Monitoring of Plant Components of the Research Assistance Request NRR-2023-023 Condition Monitoring of Mechanical Systems (ADAMS Accession ML23213A058).
This report focuses on presenting example use-cases of applying modern and advanced technologies to meet the current and future regulatory needs for the maintenance and condition monitoring of structures, systems, and components. The use-cases considered in the report aim to support regulatory review of artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) tools applied to condition monitoring of mechanical systems and components to meet in service testing (IST) regulatory requirements. The advanced technologies discussed in this work are advanced sensors and instrumentation, data analytics, AI/ML, physics-based models, and digital twins.
Staff representatives from the Division of Engineering and External Hazards (DEX) have reviewed a draft of this TLR. Nonetheless, please feel free to notify the responsible RES contact if you have any questions concerning the impending public release of this TLR.
