Enclosed is an export license application, XSNM3849, which was accepted for review by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission on April 7, 2025. In this export license application, Louisiana Energy Services, LLC, is requesting to export 485,000 kilograms (kgs) of uranium, enriched up to 5%, containing 24,250 kgs of uranium-235 in the form of uranium hexafluoride for use as fuel by the Kansai Electric Power Company, Inc. at the Mihama, Ohi and Takahama Nuclear Power plants located in Japan.
Assurances from Japan that the material will be subject to all the terms and conditions of the agreement for nuclear cooperation are required. Please note the material has obligations from Australia (7.6%), Canada (21.3%), Kazakhstan (16.5%), and Namibia (54.6%). Your assistance in obtaining the necessary assurances is appreciated.
