image001.png NRC 898 - Supp. 1 to HIPS LTR - Completeness Review.pdf Attached please find the completed NRC Form 898 for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff Licensing Topical Report (LTR) Completeness Determination For NuScale Topical Report TR-147121, Revision 0, Supplement 1 to TR-1015-18653-P-A, "Design of the Highly Integrated Protection System Platform,"" that was submitted by letter dated February 25, 2025 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System [ADAMS] Accession Nos.

ML25056A298 [proprietary] and ML25056A297 [nonproprietary]). The NRC staff has reviewed the submitted information and found that it provides sufficient technical information to enable the NRC staff to complete a detailed technical review.

A preliminary review schedule was discussed with your staff, Amanda Bode, on May 1, 2025, and is based on the NRC staffs cursory review for sufficiency and completeness. The NRC staff plans to issue a request for additional information (RAI) by October 6, 2025. NRC staff expects to provide the draft safety evaluation with no open items to NuScale for proprietary material review by February 16, 2026. The schedule is based on the assumption that the applicant will submit an acceptable response within 30 days of receiving the staff's RAI and no additional rounds of RAIs are needed.

The NRC staff estimates that the review will require approximately 650 staff hours including project management time. The level of effort could change once the NRC staff delves into matters of technical and/or policy merit during the detailed safety review of the LTRs supplement
