Tuesday, April 22, 2025 10:29:25 AM Good morning, Isaac-

We conducted a review of the Draft EA and have no comments to offer the document. Section 4.3 is pending State comments, and Im interested reading what information the State presents that will be included in the final document. For future correspondence, please be sure to include our NEPA email (r5NEPA@epa.gov) to ensure a team member receives the email if I am out of the office.

Thanks,

Krystle

Request for EPA Review: Draft EA for proposed license amendment for ACO HALEU cascade at ACP

Hello Krystle,

Please find attached a password-protected draft Environmental Assessment (EA) prepared by the staff of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). The draft EA provides the NRC staffs evaluation of the potential environmental impacts of American Centrifuge Operatings (ACO) license amendment request for the HALEU cascade at American Centrifuge Plant (ACP) in Piketon, Ohio.

ACO is requesting an extension to the license SNM-2011 to allow the HALEU cascade to continue operations until June 30, 2034. The proposed action does not include any increases in the operating

capacity of the demonstration plant; however, the extension request does include a possession limit increase to account for the additional HALEU, tails, and feed to be stored on site during operations.

For review only by staff of the EPA Region V, the draft EA should not be disclosed without prior written NRC permission. Please review the draft EA and provide any comments by Thursday, May 15.

I will send the password in a separate email.

If you have any questions about this matter, please call me at the phone number below or respond to this email.

Thanks, Isaac Johnston, Ph.D.
