OF CLOSED PRE-SUBMITTAL MEETING FOR WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC COMPANY TOPICAL REPORT WCAP-18965, QUALIFICATION OF PHOENIX5 AND POLCA8 FOR THE NUCLEAR DESIGN OF BOILING WATER REACTORS (PROPRIETARY/NON-PROPRIETARY) (EPID: L-2025-LRM-0026)
On March 27, 2025, a closed virtual pre-submittal meeting was held between the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff and Westinghouse Electric Company (Westinghouse) representatives. The purpose of the meeting was for Westinghouse representatives to present proprietary information related to the future submittal of Westinghouse Topical Report (TR)
WCAP-18965, Qualification of PHOENIX5 and POLCA8 for the Nuclear Design of Boiling Water Reactors (Proprietary/Non-Proprietary). The Westinghouse representatives provided an overview of the TR intended applications and limitations, along with an outline of the TR. In addition, the Westinghouse representatives presented information on POLCA8 and PHOENIX5 methodologies, validation and qualification; core simulator; plant qualification using PHOENIX5/POLCA8. The Westinghouse representatives concluded the presentation with the details on comparison to measured plants data, and overview of safety limits and licensing criteria.
