STATUS OF RECOMMENDATIONS: AUDIT OF THE U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSIONS REACTOR OPERATOR LICENSING EXAMINATION PROCESS (OIG-24-A-10)
This memorandum provides the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) with the status of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staffs actions to address the one recommendation in OIG-24-A-10, Audit of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commissions Reactor Operator Licensing Examination Process, dated September 30, 2024 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML24274A141).
The NRC staff responded to the recommendation in OIG-24-A-10 in a memorandum dated October 29, 2024 (ML24282A993). That response identified agency actions to further improve the NRCs reactor operator licensing examination process and the planned dates for their completion based on OIGs recommendation. In a memorandum dated November 13, 2024 (ML24318C496), OIG determined that the recommendation is resolved by the staffs response.
OIG considered the recommendation open pending completion of the identified actions. The November 13, 2024, memorandum requested an update on the status of the implementation of the recommendation by April 30, 2025. The enclosure provides that update.
