UNITED STATES NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION WASHINGTON, D.C. 20555-0001 December 12, 2024 Mr. Willliam Jessup Director of Nuclear Technology NOV Shepherd Power 10353 Richmond Ave.
Houston, TX 77042
Dear Mr. Jessup:
On behalf of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), we are pleased to invite you to the NRCs 37th Regulatory Information Conference (RIC), taking place March 11-13, 2025. This year, the conference will again be a hybrid event, featuring in-person attendees at the Bethesda North Hotel and Conference Center and virtual participants joining remotely through the RIC conference platform.
As we embark on our journey to become a cutting-edge, risk-informed regulator, we're excited to introduce new innovations at the conference! The theme for this year is Charting the Next 50 Years, and we have an incredible technical program lined up. We would like for you to join us in person as a speaker for the session titled Design to Assembly Line: Understanding High-Volume Nuclear Reactor Licensing. Your industry perspective on current state, vision and challenges to high-volume nuclear reactor licensing would undoubtedly spark informative and engaging discussions. This session, chaired by Jeremy Bowen, aims to highlight staff activities to optimize regulatory reviews for standardized designs, manage approval of multiple projects simultaneously, and ensure that innovative nuclear technologies can be brought online faster.
We hope you can join us and share your perspective. To confirm your participation, please complete and sign the enclosed forms and send them to Jorge.Hernandez@nrc.gov by December 23, 2024.
Youll find more background on our organization and the conference below.
About the NRC: The NRC licenses and regulates the Nations civilian use of radioactive materials to protect public health and safety, promote the common defense and security, and protect the environment. With about 3,000 staff members across various technical disciplines, were focused on becoming a more modern, risk-informed regulator using advanced technologies and processes. Creativity and innovation are at the forefront of our transformation.
About the RIC: The RIC is the largest public meeting we host, attracting over 3,000 participants from more than 40 countries and a variety of sectors, including government agencies, industry, international organizations, and the public. Last years hybrid format enabled us to reach an even wider audience than with an in-person or virtual event alone.
Thank you for considering our invitation. We look forward to hearing from you!
Sincerely, Jeremy Bowen /RA/
Session Chair
