NextEra Energy Seabrook, LLC (NextEra Energy Seabrook) submitted License Amendment Request (LAR) 16-03 (Reference 1), as supplemented by letters dated September 30, 2016 (Reference 2); October 03, 2017 (Reference 3); October 17, 2017 (Reference 4); December 11, 2017 (Reference 5); and June 07, 2018 (Reference 6), requesting an amendment to the license for NextEra Energy Seabrook. Specifically, the LAR proposed methods for analyzing seismic Category I structures with concrete affected by alkali-silica reaction (ASR).
Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) letter dated March 11, 2019 (Reference 7) issued License Amendment No. 159, approving the methodology for the analysis of seismic category I structures with concrete affected by Alkali-Silica Reaction. License Amendment No. 159 also invoked additional license conditions. In part, the additional license conditions require NRC notification each time an assessment or corroboration action is complete.
The purpose of this letter is to notify the NRC that the initial corroboration study associated with License Condition (b) of License Amendment No. 15 9 for N extEra Energy Seabrook is now complete. Documentation of the study is available within NextEra Energy Seabrook's Electronic Document Management System as FP101569.
