Subject:
Cultural resource site avoidance and request for approval to conduct testing in accordance with Historic Properties Treatment Plan Reference-TP-LIC-LET-0395 Transmittal of KU1 Historic Properties Treatment Plan (ML25043A041)
TerraPower, LLC (TerraPower) on behalf of US SFR Owner, LLC (USO), a wholly owned subsidiary of TerraPower, requests NRC approval to conduct testing of cultural resource site 48LN740 in accordance with the previously submitted Kemmerer Unit 1 Historic Properties Treatment Plan section 3.2 (Reference 1). Testing will utilize a combination of geophysical remote sensing and auger testing probes within the 48LN740 site boundary to fully define the horizontal and vertical extent of the subsurface cultural resource components already identified at the site. Fully defining the subsurface cultural resource components at the site will establish the contributing and non-contributing portions.
Testing will be conducted after approval of the testing plan by NRC and the Wyoming State Historic Preservation Office (WYSHPO). A technical report outlining the results will be submitted to NRC and WYSPO for review and concurrence.
Additionally, the project is working to avoid having an adverse effect on cultural resource site 48LN8940. The projects utility corridor is being modified to avoid construction that would adversely impact the area of 48LN8940. Information confirming avoidance and the impact on the Kemmerer Unit 1 Environmental Report will be submitted to the NRC.
This letter makes no new or revised regulatory commitments.
