I support the NRC's Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI). In fact, the Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (SEIS) from 2006 is still valid and no significant changes have been made to the facility to require a new SEIS. Using an EA instead of an EIS was appropriate and reaching a FONSI further supports that an EIS is not necessary. Most important, for me, is the fact that bringing this nuclear reactor back into operation will displace generating from polluting generators, burning gas or coal. The environmental and health impacts of such facilities are very large, and we need to shut them down as soon as feasible. Palisades should never have shut down - thank you to Governor Whitmer and (then) U.S. Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm for fighting to bring it back!
