UNITED STATES NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION WASHINGTON, D.C. 20555-0001 The Honorable Doug Burgum Secretary of the Interior U.S. Department of the Interior 1849 C Street, NW Washington, DC 20240
Dear Secretary Burgum:
March 31, 2025 On behalf of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), I am providing the agency's status report as required by Section 5(c) of the January 20, 2025, Executive Order (EO) 14156, entitled "Declaring a National Energy Emergency." On March 13, 2025, in accordance with Section 5(a) of the EO, the NRC submitted our initial summary report listing planned or potential actions to facilitate the Nation's energy supply that may be subject to the Endangered Species Act regulation on consultations during emergencies. Section 5(c) further directs the heads of all agencies to then submit a status report within 30 days following the submission of the initial summary report.
NRC's status report is enclosed, reflecting one additional potential licensing action since the initial summary report:
In 2026, BWX Technologies, Inc. is planning to submit a license renewal application to the NRC for its fuel fabrication facility.
Per the direction in Section 5( c) of EO 14156, the NRC will continue to provide these status reports every 30 days for the duration of the declared national energy emergency.
Please feel free to contact me or have your staff contact Mirela Gavrilas, Executive Director for Operations, via e-mail at Mirela.Gavrilas@nrc.gov or by telephone at 301-415-1700, if you have any questions or need additional information.
Sincerely,
Enclosure:
