image001.png APCo QAPD TR Completeness Determination (NRC 898) (ML25058A240).pdf Attached please find the completed NRC Form 898 for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff Topical Report (TR) Completeness Determination for Appalachian Power TR, Quality Assurance Program Description for Nuclear Quality Assurance Program, APCo ESP QAPD, Revision 0.The TR was submitted by letter dated January 28, 2025 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System [ADAMS] Accession No. ML25028A159). The NRC staff has reviewed the submitted information and found that it provides sufficient technical information to enable the NRC staff to complete a detailed technical review.
A preliminary review schedule has been established based on the NRC staffs cursory review for sufficiency and completeness. The NRC staff plans to issue requests for additional information (RAIs) by July 31, 2025.NRC staff expects to provide a draft safety evaluation (SE) to APCo by November 28, 2025, to identify any proprietary information. The schedule is based on the assumption that the applicant will submit an acceptable response within 30 days of receiving the staff's RAIs and no additional rounds of RAIs are needed.
The NRC staff estimates that the review will require approximately 220 staff hours including project management time. The level of effort could change once the NRC staff delves into matters of technical and/or policy merit during the detailed safety review.
