Enclosure 2 SAFETY EVALUATION REPORT Docket No. 71-9342 Model No. Versa-Pac Package Certificate of Compliance No. 9342 Revision No. 19
SUMMARY
By letter dated January 27, 2025 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System
[ADAMS] Accession No. ML25027A283), Orano TN requested a revision to the Certificate of Compliance (CoC or the certificate) No. 9342, for the Model No. Versa-Pac package. The Orano TN request was made to revise a drawing to ensure flexibility during fabrication.
EVALUATION The applicant submitted one drawing, Drawing VP-55-LD, Revision 7, that updates the material specification information for a carbon steel threaded cylinder and clarifies a related drawing Note 13 to ensure fabrication flexibility.
The staff reviewed the changes to the drawing provided by the applicant and determined that the changes have no impact on the packaging design, material properties, or safety functions.
CONDITIONS Condition No. 5(a)(3) Drawings, has been revised to reflect a new revision number 7 for Drawing VP-55-LD, 55 Gallon Versa-Pac Shipping Container.
Condition No. 12 was revised to reflect a new expiration of only the most recent certificate, revision 18 of a year from the month of this approval.
The application date for this amendment was added to the REFERENCES section.
CONCLUSION Based on the statements and representations in the application, as supplemented, and the conditions listed above, the staff concludes that the Model No. Versa-Pac package design has been adequately described and evaluated, and that these changes do not affect the ability of the package to meet the requirements of 10 CFR Part 71.
