VOGTLE ELECTRIC GENERATING PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2 - LICENSE RENEWAL COMMITMENT ITEM 12 (EPID L-2025-LLL-0000)
Dear Jamie Coleman:
By letter dated January 15, 2025 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML25015A191), Southern Nuclear Operating Company (SNC, the licensee) submitted, in accordance with its license renewal commitment (LRC) Item 12, information regarding its Nickel Alloy Management Program for non-reactor vessel closure head penetration locations at the Vogtle Electric Generating Plant (Vogtle), Units 1 and 2.
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff has reviewed the information provided in the letter dated January 15, 2025, and agrees with SNCs determination that there is no need for the NRC staff to further review the Vogtle, Units 1 and 2, LRC Item 12, regarding Nickel Alloy Management Program, because as stated by the licensee the program has been fully incorporated into the Vogtle, Units 1 and 2, Inservice Inspection program, and the technical basis for the scope, periodicity, nondestructive examinations, and acceptance criteria are mandated and conditioned by Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Section 50.55a.
Therefore, the NRC staff finds the Vogtle, Units 1 and 2, LRC Item 12, associated with its Nickel Alloy Management Program has been fulfilled.
