Tribal Site Visit and Information Meeting - Palisades Request for Reauthorization of Power Operations Good afternoon, Ms. Kanine.
Mr. Matthew Bussler requested that I reach out to inform you about the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commissions (NRCs) offer of a site visit and meeting at the Palisades site on September 11, 2024. Palisades nuclear plant is located in Van Buren County, Michigan, along the shore of Lake Michigan, approximately 2.5 miles northwest of Covert Township. As discussed in previous correspondence, the NRC is conducting National Historic Preservation Act Section 106 consultation through the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA) process per 36 CFR 800.8(c) for the Palisades Restart Review. The NRC is interested in obtaining information from Tribes regarding the proposed project/undertaking, understanding your preferred methods of communication, and identifying any other comments or concerns you would like to discuss.
Here is our agenda for Wednesdays site visit. This is a flexible agenda, but we wanted to give some structure to the meeting/tour.
8:30am - 9:15am: Arrive / Get Settled / Coffee 9:15am - 10:15am: Introductions, Overview of Proposed Undertaking*

If you are interested in attending the site visit, please let me know. Holtec (the license applicant) will need to obtain certain information including full legal name, social security number, and verify U.S. citizenship for site access. If you would forward me contact information for your travelers, we will relay that information to Holtec. This information is required for security purposes and will only be required for those purposes.
If you are unable to travel to the site, the meeting will allow for virtual participation.
Thank you, Jennifer Jennifer A. Davis Senior Environmental Project Manager Environmental Technical Review Branch 1 Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission
