This is an Information Meeting with a Question and Answer Session. The purpose of this meeting is for the NRC staff to meet directly with individuals to discuss regulatory and technical issues. Attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions of the NRC staff or make comments about the issues discussed throughout the meeting; however, the NRC is not actively soliciting comments towards regulatory decisions at this meeting.

Purpose:

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is hosting an "Information Meeting with Question & Answer" to discuss Section 206 of the ADVANCE Act of 2024, "Regulatory issues for nuclear facilities at brownfield sites." The purpose of this public meeting is to share and discuss information that may support the NRC's response to Congressional direction in Section 206 of the ADVANCE Act of 2024. The meeting will cover coal plant site contamination, State brownfield programs, NRC financial requirements for new reactors and consideration of existing radiological contamination, NRC population-related siting requirements, and socioeconomic and community considerations. #ADVANCENRC

Please see the attached draft agenda. This "Information Meeting with Q&A" will be structured as two panels, with time for public comments and questions after both panels are complete. Presentation titles and panelists will be updated in the agenda as they are finalized.

No regulatory decisions will be made during the meeting. There will be no formal responses to any of the discussions during this meeting.
