Design and Licensing Meetings November 12-13, 2024
Agenda Design overview Follow-up on safety analysis High-level methodology Event-specific methods Fuels licensing and advanced fuel qualification Design update development 2
Safety analysis methodology Recap of Oklos high-level safety analysis methodology, including evolution since previous discussions Oklo has performed an initial implementation of the high-level safety analysis methodology incorporating key design updates Oklo is interested in NRC staff feedback on some event-specific safety methodologies that have not yet been discussed in previous discussions 3
Fuels licensing Oklo has discussed fuel qualification with NRC staff in several interactions Oklo is following up on its fuel qualification strategy which is based on NUREG-2246, Fuel Qualification for Advanced Reactors, (2022)
Oklo is developing advanced fuels and is updating the staff on its strategy in the area of current and future fuel types 4
Summary Oklo has been developing licensing approaches that are repeatable and transferable for the reactor designs within the Aurora product line Strong customer interest has accelerated the need to focus on rapid development Safety analysis methodologies are not substantially updated due to the various design updates Oklo has developed an approach to fuel qualification validation for initial fuel assemblies as well as advanced fuels that will continue to support Oklos mission in deploying reactors at scale 5
