This is an Information Meeting with a Question and Answer Session. The purpose of this meeting is for the NRC staff to meet directly with individuals to discuss regulatory and technical issues. Attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions of the NRC staff or make comments about the issues discussed throughout the meeting; however, the NRC is not actively soliciting comments towards regulatory decisions at this meeting.
Purpose:
UPDATED: The NRC staff will host a public meeting to explain the staffs regulatory approach to proposing a risk-informed, technology-inclusive regulatory framework and to promote an understanding of the proposed rule. This meeting will focus primarily on the topic of testing fueled manufactured reactors in the manufacturing facility and other technical topics of interest raised by stakeholders during the public meeting from Nov. 19-21, 2024, on Part 53 proposed rule. If there are additional topics within the scope of Part 53 proposed rule that stakeholders would like to discuss during this meeting beyond those discussed in the agenda, send input by email to Nicole Fields (nicole.fields@nrc.gov) no later than December 31, 2024.
The staff encourages stakeholder questions during the meeting to facilitate the submission of meaningful comments on the proposed rule. The staff encourages stakeholders to submit comments on the proposed rule via https://www.regulations.gov using Docket ID NRC-2019-0062.
