UNITED STATES NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION WASHINGTON, D.C. 20555-0001 December 16, 2024 Lindsay Kaldon Project Manager National Aeronautics and Space Administration 21000 Brookpark Rd, Cleveland, OH 44135
Dear Ms. Lindsay Kaldon:
On behalf of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), we are pleased to invite you to the NRCs 37th Regulatory Information Conference (RIC), taking place March 11-13, 2025. This year, the conference will again be a hybrid event, featuring in-person attendees at the Bethesda North Hotel and Conference Center and virtual participants joining remotely through the RIC conference platform.
As we embark on our journey to become a cutting-edge, risk-informed regulator, we're excited to introduce new innovations at the conference! The theme for this year is Charting the Next 50 Years, and we have an incredible technical program lined up. We would like for you to join us in person as a speaker for the session titled One Giant Leap for Humankind: Using Nuclear Power to Explore Space.
Your insights on the Fission Surface Power project would undoubtedly spark informative and engaging discussions. This session aims to highlight recent developments in space fission reactors and future safety regulations and industry standards.
We hope you can join us and share your perspective. To confirm your participation, please complete and sign the enclosed forms and send them to steven.shockley@nrc.gov by December 23, 2024. Youll find more background on our organization and the conference below.
About the NRC: The NRC licenses and regulates the Nations civilian use of radioactive materials to protect public health and safety, promote the common defense and security, and protect the environment. With about 3,000 staff members across various technical disciplines, were focused on becoming a more modern, risk-informed regulator using advanced technologies and processes. Creativity and innovation are at the forefront of our transformation.
About the RIC: The RIC is the largest public meeting we host, attracting over 3,000 participants from more than 40 countries and a variety of sectors, including government agencies, industry, international organizations, and the public. Last years hybrid format enabled us to reach an even wider audience than with an in-person or virtual event alone.
Thank you for considering our invitation. We look forward to hearing from you!
Sincerely, Victor Hall Session Chair
