[External_Sender] Diablo Canyon Power Plant License Extension I have lived in San Luis Obispo for 15 years and have been an active participant and officer in SCORE, an SBA resource partner which is focused on the development and growth of small businesses. Both as a private citizen and proponent of small business establishment and growth, I am strong supporter of the Diablo Canyon nuclear facility.

I have had the benefit of a tour of DCPP. I was extremely impressed with the overall operations of the plant, particularly:

  • A long record supporting the safety and operational integrity of all aspects of the plant and;
  • The unparalleled security at the plant; and
  • The level of care and constant attention to processes and investment to protect marine life and the adjoining land.

As a private citizen, I am very concerned about climate change. Nuclear is an important part of an energy plan unreliant of fossil fuels. Practically, Diablo Canyon provides almost 10% of Californias electricity and there is no near-term green alternative for that. Furthermore, with more technology in our futures, demand for electricity will continue to grow, if not at an accelerating rate. I am comfortable living near the plant and comfortable seeing this met with the status quo.

As a retired business executive and volunteer proponent of small business growth, I am well aware of the vital economic impact DCPP has in the community, to the benefit of all who live here and to all small business entrepreneurs in the area who want to start businesses or grow their existing businesses.

I strongly urge you grant a license extension to the Diablo Canyon Power Plant.
