Purpose:

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff will meet with the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI), TerraPower, LLC., and Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) on NEIs White paper on selection of a seismic scenario for an Emergency Planning Zone (EPZ) boundary determination (ML24187A096). At this meeting, NEI and TerraPower will discuss design features and detailed design information on the development, testing, licensing, and deployment of the Natrium reactor and its associated fuel, structures, systems, and components and will conduct a tabletop demonstration of the NEI white paper methodology.

Tabletop demonstration NEI/TerraPower Examples that show how the C10% criterion is applied at a cutset level, how a plant damage state is determined, and how the doses were calculated. The examples should also include evaluation of cliff-edge effects. The examples should include sensitivity studies considering various design options under the non-LLWR RIPB based seismic design.
