OF NOVEMBER 20, 2024, PUBLIC PRE-SUBMITTAL MEETING WITH TENNESSEE VALLEY AUTHORITY REGARDING A ONE-TIME EXEMPTION REQUEST FROM THE REQUIREMENTS OF TITLE 10 OF THE CODE OF FEDERAL REGULATIONS PART 26, FITNESS FOR DUTY PROGRAMS, SECTION 26.205, WORK HOURS (EPID L-2024-LRM-0131)

On November 20, 2024, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff held a virtual public pre-submittal meeting with representatives from Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA). The purpose of the meeting was to discuss a proposed one-time exemption request from the requirements of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) Part 26, Fitness for Duty Programs, Section 26.205, Work Hours, for the Sequoyah Nuclear Plant, Unit 2 (Sequoyah).

The meeting notice and agenda, dated October 23, 2024, are available in the NRCs Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) under Accession No. ML24324A163. A list of attendees is provided in the enclosure.

During the meeting, the licensee presented information (ADAMS Accession No. ML24320A106) regarding the proposed one-time exemption request from the requirements of 10 CFR 26.205 for Sequoyah. In response to the TVA presentation, the NRC staff discussed with TVA the following elements that would help ensure the one-time exemption request is successfully approved:

In response to an NRC staff proposed exemption start date (January 6, 2025) question; TVA staff stated that if there is a delay with the proposed exemption start date, TVA staff will communicate the new proposed exemption start date to the NRC staff as soon as possible.
