No: I-24-018 November 21, 2024 CONTACT: Diane Screnci, 610-337-5330 Neil Sheehan, 610-337-5331 NRC Names New Resident Inspector at Seabrook Nuclear Plant The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has selected Seamus Flanagan as the new resident inspector at the Seabrook nuclear power plant. The plant, operated by NextEra Energy, is in Seabrook, New Hampshire. Flanagan joins Senior Resident Inspector Travis Daun at the plant.

Flanagan joined the NRC in July 2022 through the Nuclear Regulatory Apprenticeship Network. He completed apprenticeships in the Region I Division of Operating Reactor Safety, as the acting resident inspector at Seabrook, and as a project manager for advanced reactors in the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation.

Most recently, he was a reactor engineer in the Region I Division of Operating Reactor Safety. He holds a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering and a certificate in nuclear science and engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

I am confident that Seamus will be a valuable asset to the resident inspector team at Seabrook. He and Travis will assure that Seabrook continues to operate safely. said NRC Region I Raymond Lorson.

His intensive hands-on training and education make him a good addition to our resident inspector ranks.

Each U.S. commercial nuclear power plant has at least two NRC resident inspectors who monitor day-to-day operations at the plant. They serve as the agencys eyes and ears at the facility, conducting inspections, monitoring significant projects, and interacting with plant workers and the public.
