U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION FEEDBACK REGARDING WESTINGHOUSE AP300 SMR GOVERNING DESIGN CODES AND STANDARDS WHITE PAPER FOR PRE-APPLICATION ENGAGEMENT (EPID NO. L-2024-LRM-0097)
Dear Ms. Christian:
By letter dated November 15, 2024 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML24324A300), Westinghouse Electric Company submitted the subject white paper for U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff review. The white paper describes the codes and standards strategy for the AP300' Small Modular Reactor design, detailing exceptions to this strategy and any differences from Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) guidance. A pre-submittal meeting was held on September 20, 2024, and a summary of the public meeting may be found at ML24283A003.
The proprietary enclosure to this letter provides the staffs feedback and observations on the proprietary white paper for Westinghouse to consider in a subsequent application.
