KAIROS POWER LLC - ISSUANCE OF CONSTRUCTION PERMITS FOR THE HERMES 2 TEST REACTOR FACILITY
Dear Peter Hastings:
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff has issued the Construction Permits for Test Reactor (CPTR) No. CPTR-7 and No. CPTR-8 to Kairos Power LLC (Kairos) pursuant to Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) section 50.35, Issuance of construction permits. These construction permits (CPs), which are immediately effective, authorize Kairos to construct the proposed Hermes 2 test reactor facility, as described in Kaiross application, in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. These CPs were issued after receiving the report of the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards, dated July 17, 2024 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML24197A152), and as authorized by the Commissions hearing decision, dated November 20, 2024 (ML24325A378).
Enclosed are copies of CPTR-7 and CPTR-8, including the associated Environmental Protection Plans (appendix A), for the Kairos Hermes 2 Test Reactor Facility. A related notice will be forwarded to the Office of the Federal Register for publication.
