I. ON-LINE MONITORING Introduction Topical Reports (TR)
Licensing Activities Moving Forward 4
Introduction
- OLM refers to automated techniques used to assess instrumentation performance or health while the facility is operating
- It can assist in determining whether the equipment has encountered an anomaly, fault, if recalibration is needed, or in the elimination of unnecessary field calibrations
- The availability of OLM may result in licensees seeking approval to change surveillance and maintenance practices at nuclear facilities 5

Topical Reports
- Electric Power Research Institute
- TR-104965 - Guideline for On-Line Monitoring of Nuclear Power Plant Instrument Channel Performance
- Analysis and Measurement Services Corporation
- AMS-TR-0720R1 - Online Monitoring Technology to Extend Calibration Intervals of Nuclear Plant Pressure Transmitters
- The Topical Report is intended to be used by licensees and applicants to support plant-specific technical specification changes to switch from time-based calibration frequency of pressure, level, and flow transmitters to a condition-based calibration frequency based on OLM results.
