This is an Information Meeting with a Question and Answer Session. The purpose of this meeting is for the NRC staff to meet directly with individuals to discuss regulatory and technical issues. Attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions of the NRC staff or make comments about the issues discussed throughout the meeting; however, the NRC is not actively soliciting comments towards regulatory decisions at this meeting.

Purpose:

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff will host a public meeting to explain the NRC staffs regulatory approach to proposing a risk-informed, technology-inclusive regulatory framework and to promote an understanding of the proposed rule. The staff will discuss the structure and content of the proposed rule and will answer questions to facilitate the submission of meaningful comments on the proposed rule. The staff will focus their presentations on the proposed content that is significantly different from existing regulations. Each topic will also include a discussion of specific requests for comments, as applicable. The staff encourages stakeholders to submit comments on the proposed rule via www.regulations.gov using Docket ID NRC-2019-0062.

Attendees are strongly encouraged to read the Part 53 proposed rule (89 FR 86918) and supporting documents, which are available at https://www.regulations.gov/docket/NRC-2019-0062 prior to the meeting.

This meeting will be hybrid. In-person participants must pre-register to obtain an NRC

visitor badge by emailing Bob Beall (robert.beall@nrc.gov) or Glenna Lappert (glenna.lappert@nrc.gov) with the following information: - FULL NAME - AFFILIATION (COMPANY / ORGANIZATION) - CITIZENSHIP. All visitors will need an escort to attend this meeting in person.

No regulatory decisions will be made during the meeting. Although we are planning on transcribing this meeting, we do not intend to capture verbal comments from attendees.

There will be no formal responses to any of todays discussions.
