Dave Gasperson, 404-997-4417 NRC Names New Resident Inspector at Farley Nuclear Plant The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has selected Eddie Morris as its new resident inspector at the Joseph M. Farley nuclear power plant near Dothan, Alabama. The plant is operated by Southern Nuclear Operating Co.

He joins Senior Resident Inspector Sarah Temple at Farley.

Morris rejoined the NRC in July 2024 after a decade at Idaho National Laboratory, where he held increasingly senior oversight and management roles. Prior to that, he served as the NRC resident inspector at the Robinson nuclear power plant in Hartsville, South Carolina, and as the senior resident inspector at the Hatch nuclear power plant in Baxley, Georgia.

Before joining the NRC in 2007, Morris worked at Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory as an advanced nuclear core design engineer for reactors on the Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier. He also served in the U.S. Navys nuclear power program for more than a decade. He holds bachelor's degrees in nuclear engineering and engineering physics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Were glad to welcome Eddie back to our inspection team, said NRC Region II Administrator Laura Dudes. His years of experience as an inspector and in oversight roles will be invaluable in ensuring the Farley plant continues to meet the agencys standards.

Each U.S. commercial nuclear power plant has at least two NRC resident inspectors who monitor day-to-day operations at the plant. They serve as the agency's eyes and ears at the facility, conducting inspections, monitoring significant projects, and interacting with plant workers and the public.
