SUMMARY
- At approximately 2140 CDT, a drone was sighted flying over the protected area of Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant. The drone approached from the Southwest, entered the protected area and passed over the Unit 2 containment and maintenance support center (MSC). The drone then exited to the Northeast. The drone was flying at less than 500 feet and was over the protected area for less than 1 minute. The drone was estimated to be 8 to 10 feet wide with a flashing light on each wing.
SUMMARY
- Susquehanna security notified the NRC at 2149 EDT that three drones entered the air space of the power plant, including the protected area, from multiple directions. Two of the drones were observed to be of normal size, while the third drone was a larger style (6 to 10 feet in length). They all flashed green lights and were observed by a security supervisor and also by multiple watch towers. The incident occurred around 2100 EDT, and the drones left the premises flying in three separate directions. Their lowest altitude was around 300 to 400 feet.
SUMMARY
- Susquehanna security notified the NRC at 2255 EDT that 8 drones entered the air space of the power plant, including the protected area, from multiple directions. The drones appeared to approach generally from the South. Plant personnel conducted an onsite search but no suspicious activity was discovered. The interaction with the drones occurred from approximately 1945 to 2230 EDT. This is a similar incident to the one that occurred yesterday evening, 9/25/2022.
SUMMARY
- At approximately 1700 CDT, an individual was seen on the road to the West of the OCA of Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant while controlling a drone. A non-security individual from the plant inquired where he intended to fly his drone and he stated he was flying his drone outside of the OCA and intended to take pictures of the nearby river. At approximately 1721 CDT, the drone flew over the protected area from the West and exited to the West. The drone was flying at approximately 400 feet and did not loiter. Security was unable to identify the type of drone that was involved. The drone exited the OCA at approximately 1723 CDT. A member of plant security was sent to talk to the individual but the individual had left when security arrived at approximately 1730 CDT.
SUMMARY
- Susquehanna security notified the NRC at 2013 EDT that at least 6 drones entered the air space of the power plant, including the protected area, from multiple directions. The drones were first identified at 1943 EDT. The drones loitered around the perimeter and would periodically enter the airspace above the protected area, then return back to hover around the perimeter. At the time of the call the drones were still in the airspace around the plant. The drones appeared to be 2'x2', quadcopters. Site security did not identify any payload on the drones and estimated the altitude to be less than 1000'.
SUMMARY
- At time 2230 CDT, the Security Shift Supervisor notified the Control Room of a visually observed small drone that flew over the Protected Area (inside the Owner Controlled Area [OCA]) first spotted hovering over the turbine building and then observed slowly traveling north. Flight path moved to hover over the Alternate Access Point and then continued north. The frame and body of the drone was not visible, and no distinguishing markings or identification numbers were visible only the lights. The flyover occurred approximately 100ft to 300ft above the ground with an in OCA flight duration of greater than three (3) minutes (approximately 15 minutes).

SUMMARY
- On 10/29/2022 at approximately 1922 EDT, five quadcopter type drones began flying near Susquehanna nuclear power plant. One of the drones was 3 feet in diameter and the remaining four drones were approximately 1 to 2 feet in diameter. The drones mostly remained outside the plant's perimeter. However one of the smaller drones flew over the plant going north to south. All 5 drones exited the plant's immediate area at approximately 2005 EDT. Plant personnel and local law enforcement conducted a search of the surrounding area with no findings.
SUMMARY
- On 10/3/22 at approximately 2055 EDT, Susquehanna security observed at least 2 drones enter the air space of the plant. The drones were first identified at 2018 EDT. Drone activity ceased around 2030 EDT. The drones were described as small but were too far to specifically identify markings or number of rotors.
All drones had red and white lights.
SUMMARY
- On 10/3/22 at approximately 2219 EDT, Susquehanna security observed at least 4 drones entering the air space of the plant from multiple directions. The drones were first identified at 1937 EDT. The drones loitered around the plant's perimeter and would periodically enter the airspace above the plant, then return back to hover around the perimeter. Drone activity ceased around 2145. Three of the drones appeared to be 2x2, quadcopters. The fourth drone appeared to be larger, 3-4 in size, and a triangular shape. The larger drone seemed to be carrying a large spotlight. All drones had red, green, and white lights, with at least one appearing to also have blue lights.
SUMMARY
- On 10/8/22 at approximate 0713 EDT, Susquehanna security observed 2 drones entering the air space of the plant. The drones were observed hovering over portions of the plant. One was spotted as high as 500 feet and the other at approximately 100 feet. The drones were first identified at 0612 EDT. Drone activity ceased around 0800 EDT. The drones were quadcopters with red and white lights. No payload was identified.
SUMMARY
- On 10/12/2022 at approximately 1950 EDT, a drone flew over the Susquehanna nuclear power plant. The drone approached from the north, passed over the plant, did not loiter, and then egressed. Security personnel lost sight of the drone at approximately 2000 EDT. The drone was flying at approximately 400 feet.
The drone was a quad copter approximately 2 feet in diameter with red and white flashing lights. No camera or other equipment on the drone could be verified to be present. Plant personnel and local law enforcement searched the plant's perimeter with no findings.
SUMMARY
- On 10/20/2022 at 1129 CDT, the plant personnel visually observed a small drone that flew over the plant from the south side to the north until it was lost from sight. The frame and body of the drone was not visible, and no distinguishing markings or identification numbers were visible only white lights. The fly over occurred approximately 800ft to 1000ft above the ground with a flight duration within the plant's perimeter of less than three minutes.
SUMMARY
- On 11/17/22 at 1850 PST, a plant employee observed a drone sighting above the plant. A moment later security visually observed a large drone flying near the plant from the west side. The drone loitered for 19 minutes and then exited east side of the plant. DOE Hanford Patrol followed the drone east into the city of Richland until they lost sight. The frame and body of the drone was not visible, and no distinguishing markings or identification numbers were visible. At 2356 PST on 11/17/2022, Security visually observed two more smaller drones about a half mile from the west side of the plant.
