SUBJECT:
ISSUANCE OF THE 60-DAY FEDERAL REGISTER NOTICE FOR INFORMATION COLLECTION REGARDING TRIBAL PARTICIPATION IN THE ADVANCE NOTIFICATION PROGRAM (STC-24-061)
Purpose:
To provide notification that the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has published a notice in the Federal Register (FR) (89 FR 83707), requesting comments on the renewal of Office of Management and Budget (OMB) approval for an existing collection of information. The information collection is entitled, Tribal Participation in the Advance Notification Program.
Background:
The Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 (44 U.S.C. Chapter 35) requires that Federal agencies obtain approval from OMB before collecting information from 10 or more individuals. The information that the NRC requests is necessary to implement the Advance Notification Program as it ensures that safeguards information provided to participating Tribes will be protected. The current information collection (OMB control number 3150-0250) is set to expire on March 31, 2025.
The NRC has begun the process of renewing OMB control number 3150-0250 to ensure compliance with the regulations and continuous implementation of Tribal participation in the Advance Notification Program. The process consists of publishing a 60-day FR notice with the intent to solicit comments and a 30-day FR notice upon submission to OMB for approval.
Discussion: The NRC published the 60-day FR notice on October 17, 2024, requesting comments on the renewal of OMB approval for an existing collection of information (OMB control number 3150-0250), in accordance with Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 (44 U.S.C.
Chapter 35). The comment period closes on December 16, 2024.
