Application Information for the Kairos Hermes 2 DHS Consultation and Summary of Today"s Discussion Date:
Tuesday, October 10, 2023 2:44:00 PM Good afternoon, Felix, We thank you and Jaysen for joining us in todays call regarding the path forward for the Kairos Hermes 2 DHS consultation.
Today NRC briefed you and Jaysen on the differences of Hermes [1] and Hermes 2. As discussed, Hermes 1 will only run for 5 years and will not supply the grid with electricity; however, Hermes 2 will run for 11 years and will supply the grid with some electricity.
Also discussed, given that the Kairos 2s application states that it will be built on the same footprint and siting location as Kairos Hermes [1], both NRC and DHS agree that it would be more effective and efficient if an annex to the report (provided on February 22, 2023) was to be developed, as opposed to an entire new report and additional site visit. This annex will update the Hermes [1] report to account for the differences between the Hermes
[1] and Hermes 2 assessment. It is understood that you will first verify with Argonne (DHS contractor for this project) that this is an acceptable approach.
In the below, you may find the docketed application for Kairos Hermes 2 in the NRC Agencywide Document Management System (ADAMS), Accession No. ML23195A121 (public information). The NRC application acceptance letter can be found in the following link (also public information):

Thank you again for your continuous support in these consultation assessments.
