On October 10, Beyond Nuclear, Dont Waste Michigan, Michigan Safe Energy Future, Three Mile Island Alert, and Nuclear Energy Information Service (collectively, Petitioning Organizations) filed a hearing request in the captioned proceeding,1 which was referred to the Atomic Safety and Licensing Board Panel on October 16.2 Petitioning Organizations seek to challenge an exemption request and four license amendment requests filed by Holtec Decommissioning International, LLC, and Holtec Palisades, LLC (collectively, Holtec) to support a potential return of the Palisades Nuclear Plant to power operations.

This Licensing Board was established on September 17, 2024, upon the referral of a hearing request filed by Alan Blind on behalf of eight petitioners (collectively, Joint Petitioners).3 We issued an initial prehearing order on September 19, 2024, which set forth a briefing schedule for answers and replies.4 This order amends that briefing schedule.
Holtecs and the NRC Staffs answers to Joint Petitioners and Petitioning Organizations hearing requests are due November 4, 2024. Joint Petitioners and Petitioning Organizations replies are due November 12, 2024. All other directives in our initial prehearing order continue to apply.
