Viktoria Mitlyng, 630-829-9662 Prema Chandrathil, 630-829-9663 NRC Names New Resident Inspector at Byron Nuclear Plant

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has selected Noah Bolling as its new resident inspector at the Byron nuclear power plant in Byron, Illinois. He joins Senior Resident Inspector Ashley Demeter at the plant, operated by Constellation Energy Generation Co.

Bolling joined the NRC in 2022 as a project engineer in the Region III office in Lisle, Illinois. Before joining the NRC, he worked as a licensed operator at the University of Wisconsins test reactor. After joining the NRC, he served as acting resident inspector at the Monticello nuclear plant in Monticello, Minnesota, and participated in inspections at other Midwestern plants.

He holds a bachelors degree in nuclear engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Noahs work with the test reactor provided him with valuable experience in major focus areas for the NRC - reactor operations, maintenance, and health physics. It also familiarized him with the NRCs regulations, said NRC Region III Administrator Jack Giessner. His education and experience, combined with his commitment to our mission, will enable him to effectively u phold the agencys safety focus at the Byron plant.

Each U.S. commercial nuclear power plant has at least two NRC resident inspectors who monitor day-to-day operations at the plant. They serve as the agencys eyes and ears at the facility, conducting inspections, monitoring significant projects, and interacting with plant workers and the public.
