Dear Mr. Fleming:
Thank you for providing written comments on the development of risk metrics to support implementation of risk-informed programs for advanced reactors following NRC public meetings held July 18, 2024, and July 24, 2024 ((Agencywide Documents and Access and Management System) (ADAMS) Accession No. ML24220A185 and ML24205A017, respectively). Your comments provide useful information that will help inform the development of advanced reactor risk metrics for regulatory applications. Though you were unable to attend the meetings, many topics related to your comments were discussed, including initial and post-licensing (e.g., NRC oversight and post-licensing changes) considerations. Your written comments are enclosed and available in ADAMS at ML24269A228.
The NRC staff remain open to receiving stakeholder input on issues related to advanced reactor licensing at future NRC advanced reactor stakeholder public meetings. The NRC staff will also consider the need for future NRC public meetings dedicated to the topic of risk metrics for advanced reactors. We look forward to continued engagement on this topic.
