CALVERT CLIFFS NUCLEAR POWER PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2 -
EXEMPTIONS FROM THE REQUIREMENTS OF 10 CFR PART 2, SECTION 2.109(B) RELATED TO SUBMISSION OF SUBSEQUENT LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION (EPID L-2023-SLR-0005)
Dear Mr. Wilson:
In response to your letter dated December 7, 2023, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has granted the enclosed exemptions from a specific requirement of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Section 2.109(b), for Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant (Calvert), Units 1 and 2. Pursuant to these exemptions, if Constellation Energy Generation, LLC, submits a subsequent license renewal application (SLRA) no later than July 31, 2031, for Calvert, Unit 1, and no later than August 13, 2033, for Calvert, Unit 2, and if the NRC staff finds them acceptable for docketing, the existing operating licenses for Calvert, Units 1 and 2 will be in timely renewal under NRC regulations until the NRC has made a final determination on the SLRAs.
A copy of the exemptions is enclosed. The exemptions have been forwarded to the Office of the Federal Register for publication.
In accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) Part 2, Agency Rules of Practice and Procedure, a copy of this letter will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from the Publicly Available Records component of the NRCs Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS).
