DOSIMETRY AUTHORIZATION FOR SITE VISIT TO TOUR CVN-65, TWO ADDITIONAL STAFF (EPID: NB-DLLW-DOE NR SSSB MOD 10)
To Whom it May Concern:
The purpose of this letter is to inform you that on September 19, 2024, two additional staff members in addition to the five U.S. Nuclear Regulatory (NRC) staff that were identified in the September 11, 2024, letter (Agencywide Document Access and Management System (ADAMS)
Accession No. ML24254A434) will be visiting the CVN -65, Ex-Enterprise ship for a tour. This tour will include the propulsion plant spaces, including reactor compartment(s). The purpose of the site visit is for decommissioning orientation to the ship and radiological decommissioning discussion as applicable to NRC regulations and oversight of the CVN-65 decommissioning. NRC understand that authorization is required for Newport News Shipyard to provide the workers with dosimetry during work and that this request will be provided by NAVSEA 08 via separate correspondence.
Enclosed, please find the following information for each NRC staff member that will be attending the CVN-65, Ex-Enterprise ship tour for the purpose stated above:

Please note that each of the staff members identified in the enclosure has radiological training equivalent to Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program training (i.e., Radiation worker training). Also, each member has completed form NN 1421, Visitor Dosimetry. These forms were separately transmitted to the NRC point of contact for this ship visit, Mr. Stephen Picard, Project Officer, CVN RCOH, Inactivation, and Disposal Programs, NAVSEA 08P.
