SUMMARY
OF THE AUGUST 21, 2024, PUBLIC MEETING TO DISCUSS AN OVERVIEW OF DEEP FISSIONS QUALITY ASSURANCE PROGRAM DESCRIPTION The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff conducted an observation public teleconference meeting with Deep Fission, Inc. (Deep Fission), on August 21, 2024. The purpose of the meeting was for Deep Fission to provide an overview of their quality assurance program before submittal of the associated topical report.
The meeting notice can be found in the Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML24218A097. The meeting notice was also posted on the NRC public website.

TO DISCUSS THE CONCEPTUAL DESIGN WHITE PAPER FOR DEEP FISSIONS DEEP BOREHOLE PRESSURIZED WATER REACTOR MEETING
SUMMARY
On August 21, 2024, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff conducted an observation public teleconference meeting with Deep Fission, Inc. (Deep Fission), to discuss their upcoming Quality Assurance Program Description (QAPD) Topical Report.
The public meeting commenced at 1:00 pm with opening remarks from the NRC and an introduction of participants. Next, Deep Fission began its presentation (ML24234A333) by stating that the purpose of the meeting was to give an overview of their QAPD, which was to be submitted to the NRC for staff review sometime in the upcoming weeks. Deep Fission covered the following topics during their presentation:
Overview of Deep Fission QAPD Basis Introduction and Purpose of the QAPD QAPD Details Non-safety Structures, Systems, and Components Quality Control Submittal and Review Timeline QAPD Status Next, NRC staff provided feedback to Deep Fission to ensure that when using Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) guidance document 11-04, they understand what purpose they are using it for.
Staff has had a number of questions for different applicants not using the template correctly.
Staff also asked if Deep Fission planned to commit to using Regulatory Guide 1.133. Deep Fission responded that they have not determined that yet, but as of this point, the QAPD is for design activities and may be subject to revision in the future.
The public was provided an opportunity to provide comments and ask questions. There were no questions or comments from the public.
