U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION FEEDBACK REGARDING WESTINGHOUSE AP300 SMR SAFETY CLASSIFICATION AND SEISMIC CATEGORIZATION APPROACH WHITE PAPER FOR PRE-APPLICATION ENGAGEMENT (EPID NO. L-2024-LRM-0076)
Dear Ms. Christian:
By letter dated August 2, 2024 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML24218A255), Westinghouse Electric Company submitted the subject white paper for U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff review. The white paper describes the safety classification and seismic design methodology for the Westinghouse AP300 SMR. A pre-submittal meeting was held on February 2, 2024 (ML24036A213).
The proprietary enclosure to this letter provides the staffs feedback and observations for Westinghouse to consider in a subsequent application.
