By letter 2024-XE-NRC-004 dated April 26, 2024, X-Energy, LLC requested a review of a topical report (TR) for the Principal Design Criteria (PDC) related to the Xenith reactor. By email dated June 6, 2024, the NRC staff issued an acceptance of the PDC TR. The email also stated that a regulatory audit may be beneficial to the review.
The NRC has determined that a regulatory audit would assist in review of this the PDC TR. The NRC staff will conduct the audit to seek clarification, gain understanding, and verify information regarding the information provided in the PDC TR. The NRC staff will coordinate with X-Energy to kick off the audit in September 2024, in accordance with the audit plan placed in the previously shared Box folder.
