- Steve, The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Region II staff will conduct a radiation protection and transportation inspection at your facility during the week of October 7, 2024.
The inspection will focus on the core inspection procedures described in Inspection Manual Chapter 2600; and will use Inspection Procedure 88030, Radiation Protection and Inspection Procedure 86740, Inspection of Transportation Activities. The inspectors will be Joseph Grice and Justin Radabaugh for radiation protection, and myself for transportation.
Kelly Sullivan and Meg Day would like to accompany us as trainees. Let me know if you anticipate logistical challenges with us bringing five inspectors for this inspection.
Experience has shown that these inspections are resource intensive both for the NRC inspectors and your staff. In order to minimize the impact to your onsite resources and to conduct a productive inspection, I have attached a request for documents needed for this inspection. Please make these documents available to us electronically where possible and let me know if any of them need to be provided as hardcopies onsite. Please also let us know if any of us need to complete site access training or take other actions.
If possible, an entrance meeting should be schedule for 14:00 on Monday the 7th, with an exit meeting at 16:00 on Thursday the 10th. If there are any questions about this inspection or the material requested, particularly in the you find the request unclear or unduly burdensome, please let me know.

The current version of these documents is expected unless specified otherwise. The lead inspector can answer questions regarding specific information needs with licensee staff and may request additional documents before the inspection. - RP Operating Procedures (include procedure number, title, and revision #)
- RP Management Procedures (include procedure number, title, and revision #)
- Radiation/Radiological Work Permits and Job Permits (RWPs/RJPs)
- Radiological Postings and Access Controls
- Radiation and Contamination Surveys
- Respiratory Protection Program
- Airborne Radioactivity Monitoring
- Dosimetry Program (records for workers can be obtained electronically once on site)
- Personnel OSLD/TLD Monitoring Program
- Unplanned Contamination/Safety Significant Radiological Events
- Calibration and set point verification for exit monitors such as hand-and-foot monitors (HFMs) and personnel contamination monitors (PCMs)

- e. List of condition reports/corrective action program entries related to radioactive shipments from 2022 to 2024

Copies of self-assessments and independent audits of the radioactive material transportation program performed from 2022 to 2024
- g. Any 71.95 reports from 2022 to 2024, including those in progress
- h. Training records for individuals responsible for preparing radioactive shipments

A list of all radioactive packages received by Westinghouse from 2022 to 2024. I will select a sample to review receipt inspections and surveys
