OF AUGUST 9, 2024, MEETING BETWEEN U.S.
NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION STAFF AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROPERTIES MANAGEMENT, LLC, STAFF On August 9, 2024, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff held a meeting with representatives of Environmental Properties Management, LLC (EPM). The discussion focused on issuance of the environmental assessment for the NRCs review of the revised decommissioning plan to remediate groundwater (EA) at the Cimarron Site, and in particular the issuance schedule pertaining to Section 107(g)(1)(B) of the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969, as Amended (NEPA). The NRC staff provided background information regarding the changes to NEPA that necessitated the discussion, described recent and upcoming activities to complete the EA, and stated that the EA and finding of no significant impact would be published by November 30, 2024, as previously agreed upon by the NRC and EPM. All meeting participants agreed that this date would be acceptable. This memorandum constitutes the NRC staffs consultation with EPM regarding the EA deadline consistent with Section 107(g)(2) of NEPA.
